Are special accessories required for mounting?

Yes, Carboplak can also deliver the afferent accessories

Can polycarbonate bend?

Yes, polycarbonate sheets can be cold bent, with bending radius calculation using formula: sheet thickness mm x 150.

How can polycarbonate plates be cleaned?

To clean CARBOPLAK plates:

  • Water solutions containing solvents or abrasive and aggressive substances shall not be used under any circumstances.
  • As a rule, soap (detergent) solutions, non-alkaline, warn, not hot and soft sponges shall be used.
  • If necessary, the operation shall be performed several times.
  • Rinse with warm water and wipe carefully with a soft cloth.
  • Small and superficial scratches due to abrasion can be eliminated with polish paste spread on the plate prior to rinsing it with warm water or prior to using the non-aggressive detergent.
  • The fat and fresh paint stains can be removed by applying alcohol, gasoline or a non-aggressive solvent on the plate, fast and slightly. The plate can also be rinsed immediately with plenty of warm water and non-aggressive detergent.

How do I know which side is UV protected?

Polycarbonate foils are protected against scratches on both sides, with a thin polyethylene foil and the polyethylene foil is printed on the UV protected side of the plates. The back side polyethylene foil is fully clear. We recommend the removal of the protection foils only at the end of the mounting works, to avoid the defective mounting of the plates.

Can polycarbonate plates be drilled?

To drill CARBOPLAK plates, cone shaped drills with high speed shall be used (1000 to 5000 rotations / minute). Holes must be drilled at distances of at least 10 mm from the plate edge. Attention shall be given for the holes not to exceed the screw diameter (for instance: 10-12 mm for 6 mm screws), to also take into account the expansion phenomenon.

How are polycarbonate plates fixed?

Polycarbonate plates are mechanically fixed by means of self-tapping screws with seal, considering the thermal expansion coefficient: of 6,5 X10-5K-1 corresponding to an expansion of 0.065 mm/mx 0C. It is recommended to fix the plate in an appropriate structure.

The frame to mount CARBOPLAK plates can be made of plastic, aluminum or metal. It is recommended to fix the plate in an appropriate structure. For each fixing, the following expansion joints must be provided:
